Businesses and organizations may opt to internally collect rechargeable batteries using the no-cost recycling program offered by Call2Recyle.

Single-use Batteries

Single use, household batteries, such as alkaline and lithium batteries, are not considered a hazardous waste and may be placed in the household trash.

Macon County Community Environmental Council is offering the opportunity to provide designated drop-off sites for battery recycling. It does not cost anything by recycling these batteries. This drop off site will accept single-use batteries, including button-cell batteries.

Two recycling locations are available in Macon County. One is located in the lobby of the Decatur Public Library and the other location is at the Mt. Zion District Library. Bring your batteries to these locations and place them in the container. It’s that easy!!!
