Household Paint, Stain & Varnish Collection Event
Household-generated latex-paint, oil-based paint, stains and varnishes in their original containers with legible labels will be accepted at Macon County Environmental Management’s Recycling Center at 1750 N. 21st Street, Decatur, Illinois. Please dispose of dry paint and empty cans in your residential trash rather than bringing these items to the collection.
Please note that regulations only allow for the acceptance of household paints, stains and varnishes at these collections. Automotive paints, spray paints, paints from businesses as well as other household hazardous waste items are not accepted at these collections due to state and federal regulations.
In the event of rain, storms or alike, collections may be cancelled. During questionable conditions, please monitor Macon County Environmental Management’s Twitter feed @MaconCoEnvMgt or call the office at 217-425-4505.
Please note that this event is the first of ten paint collections scheduled for 2017 and the first collection of the year typically attracts the highest attendance. Traffic congestion may occur, especially during the first two hours of the event, for this particular collection date. Please refer to the Schedule of Events to see a listing of all ten paint collection events for 2017.
